Atheros OTUS AR9170 Linux driver

Supported Hardware

Atheros 802.11n hardware: UB81, UB82, UB83

Requirements

Kernel 2.4 - 2.6.24

About this driver
------------------

This is the Atheros AR9170 Linux driver for our 11n USB devices.
This is based on the Atheros 3.2.0.20 OTUS release.

* IEEE 802.11h, 802.11d
* IEEE 80211i
* IEEE Draft 2.0 802.11n

join (2.4GHz, 5GHz if SKU allows), create (2.4GHz , 5GHz if SKU allows)
Adhoc security: WEP
* Security
Authentication: WPA/WPA2 (Personal / Enterprise),
802.1x Encryption: none, AES, TKIP, WEP40, WEP104

wpa_supplicant otus driver
--------------------------

This driver requires its own supplicant driver for
wpa_supplicant 0.4.8. For your convenience you can find
the tarball here:

Before compiling wpa_supplicant, ensure your .config has atleast the following

CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXTENSION=y
CONFIG_EAP_WSC=y
CONFIG_WSC_IE=y
CONFIG_DRIVER_WEXT=y
CONFIG_DRIVER_OTUS=y

After a successful compile, you can use the Atheros device as shown in the example,

$ wpa_supplicant -Dotus -i -c /path/to/wpa_supplicant.conf -d

Purpose of this release
------------------------

This should serve as documentation for eager developer to port
this driver to mac80211 to get a driver upstream. If you'd like
to help out users with this current driver feel free to send
patches to the git tree for this driver.

It should be noted though that this driver *is* usable.

Patch
-----

Please note that a patch to update the firmware for use with the WN111v2 is also included in this file. The drivers are already patched for use with the WN111, so you do not need to patch it manually - but the patch is included for your convenience.
